Ben Lomond Fast-Track Submission Rejected

We’re stoked to share that the Fast Track Mega-development on Ben Lomond and Bowen Peak has been rejected by the Minister for referral!

Thank you to everyone that shared, talked about and signed the petition against the project. With over 2,600 signatures, we’ve shown that this community does have a voice and that together, we do have power to protect our environment and stand up for a sustainable, liveable future in Tāhuna Queenstown.

The main reasoning for the Minister’s decision was the referral application raised substantial concerns regarding the project’s feasibility, especially in relation to three-water infrastructure servicing, risks associated with natural hazards, a conflict with QLDC’s Arterial Bypass, and the viability of the proposed ski field.
